REVIEW: The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf (Space Wolf Chronicles 0.5) by Kara Lockharte

★★★★ 4/5

I have to admit I haven't had much experience reading sci-fi shifter romances, but this one caught my eye with the cover. Yes, I'm one of those people who tends to judge a book by its cover first. I like pretty things. What can I say?

The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf was an enjoyable read, but it was tooooo short. The couple ended up together in the end and everything, but getting there was too fast. It would have been better if their story had been split into several stories of this size or if this story had been expanded.

There was a lot of interesting world-building glossed over in the beginning of the story, but we only get a taste of it. Unfortunately, the same is true for the characters. This story was, in essence, a sample of what Kara Lockharte has to offer in her other books. That taste was good, so this story served its purpose there, but it also makes me wonder what the next book will be like.

Luckily, Wanted By The Werewolf Prince is a full-sized book, so I expect to be completely satisfied with that one. I'll just have to read and find out.

The Boy Who Came Back a Wolf doesn't seem to be available on Amazon right now, so check out the link below to Wanted By The Werewolf Prince or check out Kara Lockharte's author profile to see about signing up for her newsletter.
